While work continues on the Big Boy at Cheyenne, one man has a smaller version at his disposal.
Big Boy is one of the most powerful, gigantic steam locomotives ever built!
While there are plenty of models of this iconic loco, due to the scale and cost of building it, not many have reproduced a live steam version.
This model has been gathering dust for over 30 years. It is now returned to steam. I bet it was an easier restoration that the real thing is undergoing!
It is brilliantly reproduced and yes, I am jealous!
Built on a 3/4 inch scale, this replica of Class 4000 4-8-8-4 road number 4025 applies the same principles and tolerances as the original Big Boy!

This video is going around Face Book. I shared it, and people are just thrilled. Thanks So Much, I’m grinning ear to ear. Simply Outstanding!!!
Why the music? So far as I’m concerned, it ruins the video. It’s distracting, and masks the sounds of the engine, which is what people want to hear, Dumb..
The music was added (by me) because the audio from the camera was very poor with wind noise. The engine has a very soft exhaust note due to the length of the dry pipes and the long articulated exhaust piping to the double stacks, so you’re not missing any great “sounds of steam”.
Did he make the train or buy it.
